Extra Credit Assignment: 6wks1

Topic: Jamestown

Due: On or before Friday, September 23, 2015.

Description:  You are a colonist who arrived at Jamestown in 1607 with the first group of settlers. Parts of your detailed journal have been found buried under a rock on the original site of Jamestown. In particular, archeologists found several entries which have confirmed thoughts and conclusions of historians. Create your journal with the following requirements:

  1. One entry each about the following topics.

    • The day of the arrival at Jamestown which describes the area.

    • The roles of John Smith and Pocahontas in helping the colony survive.

    • Description of the "Starving Time"

    • Explanation of how Jamestown becomes economically successful because of John Rolfe.

  2. Each entry has a sketch that helps explain the topic of the entry.

Format: The entries must be written in full sentences.  All details must be historically accurate (use your research and cite your sources).  In order to complete this assignment properly you will need to write at least a half page typed page for each entry.  It would also be beneficial to your grade to make it look like an old journal.
