Welcome to 8th Grade U.S. History !  I am so excited to be starting my 14th year of teaching at Walsh Middle School.  I am looking forward to meeting every single one of you.  This year we will be covering Colonization, Revolution, Constitution, Early Republic, Era of Jackson, Westward Expansion, Industrialization, Sectionalism, Civil War, and Reconstruction. We will spend our year focusing on key individuals, events, and issues of each era . 

        I strongly believe that my job is to help your student reach their fullest potential.  I will encourage them to think critically about the topics we cover in U.S. History.  I believe that students excel when expectations are set high.  Therefore, I will hold your child accountable for the highest level of academic achievement.  Every day I am with the kids, I will be working to make sure they reach that level.  When students succeed, they feel great.  When they feel great, they work toward continued success.  You have my promise to do everything in my power to ensure that your child reaches his/her fullest potential.

        I cannot do my job alone; I need your help.  Be there for your child with encouragement and support. Celebrate the accomplishments.  Show understanding and reassure your child when things get frustrating. You will be surprised at what your child can do by the end of 8th grade!
